This is a freeform pool and outdoor project that had to transition 13 feet of fall from the house ground level floor to the boat dock. Using a raised beam pool and terraced patio spaces we were able to design this steep drop in grade so that it would feel natural and imperceptible.
Being on a point on the lake it had to be an infinity pool. To handle the splash from the tall spa stone wall, we created a kiddie pool area so that water wasn’t lost and added an interesting element to the pool at the same time.
Over 20 underwater LED lights are used in this project and the client enjoys creating themed light shows while entertaining hundreds of viewers with their elaborate fireworks displays on the Fourth of July. The spa is a perimeter overflow spa with a tile coping and natural Tennessee stacked stone veneer. We used the Tennessee stacked stone throughout the pool, patio and house for all vertical stonework. French pattern Turkish Travertine was the decking material of choice for all of the patio areas and sidewalk to the boat dock. All of the pool coping, stair treads and seating wall caps were also made from travertine. We used a 2” thick custom fabricated bullnose travertine for all of these features. Every piece of travertine was templated on-site and cut and polished in our fabrication shop by our stone craftsmen, then transported to the job for installation. We also incorporated large 6” thick stone step treads in the sidewalk to the boat dock. All travertine was custom imported for this job through our A wood burning masonry fire pit with a gas starter was included for cooler evenings and ambience.
A built-in outdoor grilling station with built-in cabinets and dining space make dinners for multiple guests a breeze.
As we often do, we used 3d cad design and rendering to help the client see the end result as well as to create construction documents for our crew and project manager to follow. This 664 square foot pool and spa is fully automated. The clients can run the system and check on their water parameters from their phones. The in-floor pool cleaners help maintain a well circulated pool and the pebble-tec plaster will be beautiful and durable for years to come.
This pool recently won the Bronze Medal for the International Awards of Excellence by the Association of Pool and Spa Professionals for 2016.
